How to hang art without nails

Stick a peel-and-stick magnetic BaseTile to the wall once, then snap the artwork on top. There are no nails, no drill and no holes, and the art can be lifted off and swapped whenever you like.

What you need

A BaseTile and an ArtTile (or a PhotoTile printed from your own photo) in the same size. Your first order includes a bubble level and a felt squeegee, which is all the tooling there is. A frame is optional.

Step by step

  1. Pick a clean, smooth, dry wall. Wipe off dust first. If the wall was painted recently, give it about two weeks to cure.
  2. Hold the bubble level where you want the top of the art to sit and make sure the bubble is centered.
  3. Peel the release paper off the back of the BaseTile.
  4. Line the BaseTile up with the level and press it firmly onto the wall with the squeegee. The adhesive is repositionable, so you can adjust it while you line it up.
  5. Center the ArtTile between the top guide marks and attach it to the BaseTile, starting from the top.
  6. Adding a frame? Hook its top lip onto the BaseTile first, then press it into place.

Changing the art later

Lift off the frame if you have one, peel a corner of the ArtTile, and put a different one up. The BaseTile stays on the wall, so new art in the same size never needs another one.

Taking it down

Peel the BaseTile away slowly, keeping it flat and parallel to the wall rather than pulling it straight out. Pulling outward is what lifts paint.

Common questions

Will it damage my wall?

BaseTiles are designed to come off cleanly from properly prepared, cured, smooth walls when peeled slowly and flat against the wall. As with any adhesive product, results depend on paint quality and wall condition.

Does it work on textured walls?

It works best on smooth, even surfaces. Heavy texture reduces how much of the adhesive touches the wall and can affect how securely the BaseTile stays in place.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Yes, in normal bathroom areas away from direct water. Not inside a shower, and not outdoors.
